Baldur Power is a new renewable energy platform that WFW advises CIP to launch

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised long-standing client Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (“CIP”) on the launch of its new Baldur Power platform for the development of renewable energy projects in Germany. Baldur Power will invest primarily in photovoltaic, onshore wind and battery projects, whilst also providing planning, procurement, logistics, engineering, and construction management services.

The platform was established on behalf of CIP’s flagship funds, which will provide capital to implement projects and further grow Baldur Power with the goal of establishing it as an independent power generation company.

Founded in 2012, Copenhagen-based CIP is now the world’s largest specialised fund manager for renewable energy investments and a global leader in offshore wind projects.

The WFW Hamburg Corporate and M&A team that advised CIP on the transaction was led by  Marcus Bechtel, supported by Associate Tarek Fadl and Transactional Lawyer Stefanie Igl.

Marcus commented: “We are pleased to have been able to support CIP in establishing this innovative new platform. Being granted this mandate underlines once again WFW’s expertise in advising on complex renewable energy transactions”.
